Hennessy Hammock587 viewsThis is my Hennessy Hammock in use on a trip in the Chiniguchi area, east of Sudbury. The hammock has a full bug screen, a silnylon rain fly and fastens easily to any two reasonably spaced trees. Access is through a slit in the bottom.

High water on Ezma Lake722 viewsEven though it is in the middle of August 2008, the lake level is like in spring. The shrubs (meadowsweet) stand still in the water, and many trees along the shore (mostly cedars) have died as they could not tolerate the prolonged immersion.

On the Eramosa - an easy class I river.512 viewsThe only complication could be sweepers: fallen trees and their branches in the current. At the beginning of the trip, teach novices how to sideslip the boat with draws. Where you think you might encounter such obstacles, guide them with caution. In this year's trip, we encountered nothing dangerous.

Easter on the Rouge, between the 401 and the Lake595 viewsKinda bleak - but the local beaver is not bothered by that and cuts his trees anytime he feels like it

Memories of Killarney541 viewsShot of Boundary Lk from the trail up to Silver Peak - I think of Killarney in terms of blue, green and white - water, trees and the quartzite rocks.

Sundown's Element327 viewsPhoto taken from inside the tent at Alexander Lake, enroute through the Makobe River. Morning light perfectly "frames" my "subject" at it's truest "form".....timeless.
Makobe_s_Challenge-resized.jpg
Makobe's Challenge353 viewsThe Makobe River route was definitely challenging....with many portages (and we were not light), it made for a physically and mentally demanding trip. Nothing like the end of a hard days work, by the fire, to rejuvenate, though!!!!

What an AMAZING route and an INCREDIBLE experience!

Just a story of life in the woods172 viewsTrees are wildlife too! And this picture tells a story - I am sure you have figured it out immediately....
What happened is pretty obvious. But what does it mean? I am not sure myself. But it got me thinking. And whatever I think today, tomorrow I may have new insights and thus a differing view of the story in this picture.
White_Pine_towers_above_the_forest.jpg
Towering White Pine163 viewsThe concentration of old growth White and Red Pines was astounding. They towered over the other trees in the forest and you never lose the feeling of awe when you see just how big these are.
